Home to the world’s greatest Ultra-High-Net-Worth-Individuals (UHNWIs) such as Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, Citadel’s Ken Griffin, and Palantir’s Peter Thiel, Miami has recorded a jump of 30% in billionaire residents since 2020.
As one of the highest-income neighborhoods in the country, Indian Creek Island is a man-made barrier island featuring less than 100 residents, according to the Miami-Dade Beacon Council.
As reported by Dina Goldentayer, a prominent real estate agent in the Indian Creek village, “This is all post-COVID, and it was actually quite different before” provoking the question of why billionaires choose to reside on this island.
This map of Indian Creek pictures an array of billionaires, all with waterfront villas residing adjacent to each other. With a law-enforcement agency constantly monitoring the area via boat, land, and air, security has become a crucial aspect for the protection of the 40 waterfront villas. The 300-acre island also incorporates an 18-hole golf course with a tailored Florida legislature that “incorporated Indian Creek in 1939 under a now-defunct law that allowed 25 or more neighbors to form a town.”
The attention given by billionaires makes Indian Creek Island one of the most exclusive places in the world, thanks to its market value in real estate and agencies worldwide analyzing the square foot prices.
Indian Creek’s five most well-off homeowners own $191 billion. Properties that are especially impressive and are recorded with the highest market value include Jeff Bezos’s first house with 19,064 -square-foot. The $68 million three-bedroom, three-bathroom mansion hosts a well-maintained outdoor space. Moreover, the Brazilian teak dock allows Bezos’ $500 million super-yacht Koru to moor next to the villa.
Another impressive mansion on the Indian Creek Island is owned by Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner. With a market value of $24 million, the villa incorporates 6 bedrooms and eight-and-a half bathrooms over 1.3 acres of land. The waterfront property also features a large pool in the backyard tied to an exceptional interior design.
The rise of media coverage on Indian Creek Island has shed light on why billionaires choose to reside on this private island close to downtown Miami. It is assumed that due to the rare property availability, villas could reach an even higher entry price for future buyers.
